The Naked Lecturer

     If you strip the meaning of the Russian phrase ЛЕКТОР ЧИТАЕТ ЛЕКЦИЮ  "the lecturer gives a lecture", you get "the reader reads a reading". If you strip this phrase again, the lecturer will appear completely naked: "the collector collects a collection".
The words LECTURE and COLLECTION have the same root. And not even Latin, but Arabic root L-K-T ;;;
The Latin root LEC is secondary, it is more recent, it has almost lost the third consonant, while in Arabic L-K-T there are exactly three of them. The meaning of the Arabic root is exactly the same as the Latin: "to collect, to select". From the point of view of the Arabic root, a collection is a "selection of similar objects".
Read my article "What is "to read" and you will learn something else interesting.
The name of the children's construction set, LEGO, comes from the Latin root LEG, from the verb LEGARE "to collect, to construct", but also "to read". And there are many interesting moments here. But we'll talk about them some other time.
