Why love? Why the heart s deep sighs?
Why the empty hopes that rise?
You wait for him through countless years,
But he is gone, and naught appears.
Yet memories linger, bittersweet,
Of moments when your hearts would meet,
Those evenings rich with whispered grace,
Those strolls beneath the moon's embrace.
Those cities bright, those candle eyes,
That lit the darkened, starry skies,
But then a storm swept through your soul,
And dimmed the light that made you whole.
He vanished from your life one night,
Into the shadows, out of sight.
While you, adrift in dreams of old,
Longed for the warmth his gaze would hold.
You waited long, a year, then two,
But happiness just would not come through.
And still you hope, as days unfold,
For that sweet moment to behold:
When at your door, he stands once more,
With twinkling eyes, like days of yore,
With open arms, you greet him there,
And guide him in, a tender care.
You pour the tea, your heart now free,
And vow that he will stay with thee,
For in his presence, love's embrace,
You find your home, your rightful place.
