Why we failed to be a next Switzerland?
Scientifically proven that fear of a tragic future has four times surpasses the motivating power of pictures of a wonderful future.
Of course, positive attitude and faith in a happy future and affirmation of complete well-being is a very important element in achieving our vital goals.
But if we also, in addition to, clearly imagine the negative and tragic ending of our lives and each day in order to avoid them, such an approach will not only be realistic, but will also significantly increase the effectiveness of our efforts. We can achieve much more by thinking not only about carrot that awaits us ahead, but also about stick that can lash out at every turn if we not being careful.
In a word, our imagination - both positive and negative - is a key factor in changes for the better.
Kyrgyzstan, as its well known, in the beginning of independence, set itself the goal of becoming a second Switzerland. At the same time, it was necessary to more clearly pose the negative alternative to such a brilliant choice, imagine North Korea, where we can all inevitably end up if we do not follow strictly the path of Switzerland.
This is how we should meditate:
we will be like Switzerland or Singapore, where all the people are millionaires and travel all over the world, doors are open for them everywhere,
or,
if we do nothing, we will end up in prison, in North Korea, where people eat grass to survive and all the doors to freedom for us and our children will be tightly closed. Only those who ready to die in the trenches of armed conflicts can go abroad.
So if we motivated with such way we would have advanced much further towards our chosen goal.
In the early years of the Akayev regime, our leaders and elite may have dreamed of Switzerland, but they were not sufficiently motivated, acted constructively and competent, they just declared reforms but not implemented them with the tough will and power. That’s why privatization turned down into total robbery of the majority of our people, as a result significant part of citizens became impoverished and began to dream of returning to the USSR, despite the fact that it was the same prison as North Korea.
So we did not succeed and failed in our attempt to create something quite different and unequivocally good in the beginning of our freedom.
And I know the chief reason for that now.
Our society should truly hated and feared the prison, the restoration of the USSR, which will inevitably slide to North Korea – hate all these with all souls and fleshes, fight tooth and nails against such extremely dangerous illusions.
And only after that, our desire to follow on the footsteps of Switzerland or Singapore would had matured and brought us much better fruits and results.
