Подавляющее большинство жителей Гренландии не хочет быть частью США, несмотря на многочисленные заявления президента страны Дональда Трампа о необходимости присоединения арктического острова. Об этом сообщает агентство Bloomberg со ссылкой на проведенный опрос.

«Опрос, проведенный компанией Verian по заказу датской газеты Berlingske и гренландского издания Sermitsiaq, показал, что 85 процентов населения самоуправляемой арктической территории не хотят быть частью США. Согласно опросу, опубликованному во вторник, около 6 процентов сказали, что предпочли бы эту страну Дании, а 9 процентов не определились с ответом», — отмечается в материале агентства.

При этом уточняется, что большая часть из 57 тысяч жителей острова настроена на обретение независимости от Дании, хотя территория обладает очень широкой автономией во внутренней и внешней политике.

Ранее газета Financial Times (FT) сообщала, что Трамп позвонил премьер-министру Дании Метте Фредериксен и потребовал отдать Гренландию. Как рассказали источники, беседа двух политиков прошла «крайне плохо», так как президент США несколько раз потребовал отдать Гренландию.

The vast majority of Greenlanders do not want to be part of the United States, despite numerous statements by President Donald Trump about the need to annex the Arctic island. This is reported by the Bloomberg agency with reference to the conducted survey.

"A survey conducted by Verian commissioned by the Danish newspaper Berlingske and the Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsiaq showed that 85 percent of the population of the self-governing Arctic territory does not want to be part of the United States. According to a survey published on Tuesday, about 6 percent said they would prefer this country to Denmark, while 9 percent were undecided on the answer," the agency's material says.

At the same time, it is clarified that most of the 57,000 inhabitants of the island are determined to gain independence from Denmark, although the territory has very wide autonomy in domestic and foreign policy.

Earlier, the Financial Times (FT) newspaper reported that Trump called Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and demanded that Greenland be given back. According to sources, the conversation between the two politicians went "extremely badly", as the US president repeatedly demanded that Greenland be given back.
