For my granddaughter wedding, Feb. 7 25
A little flower, sweet as can be.
A lovable baby, pure and bright,
A beacon of joy, my heart’s delight.
I watched you grow, so smart, so wise,
With kindness shining in your brown eyes.
I saw you swim, I saw you play,
A gentle soul in every way.
So sweet with your brother, a bond so true,
And more like your mother as you grew.
A beauty emerged, both inside and out,
Yet I worried for you, this world’s full of doubt.
I swelled with pride at your pageant grace,
But happier still when you found your place
Stepping on earth, pursuing your dreams,
Education and love, life’s flowing streams.
And then came Dominic, a man so kind,
With roots of King David, a noble mind.
A partner to cherish, a love to hold,
A story of warmth, a future of gold.
Today I stand, at your wedding day,
With pride and joy, though shadows may play.
A touch of sadness, for my days have passed,
But your new beginning is here at last.
I wish you love, a bond that won’t sever,
A marriage that lasts, now and forever.
For your children’s sake, a family whole,
A foundation of love for every soul.
May success be yours, may you soar so high,
Reaching beyond what I’ve touched in the sky.
As long as I’m here, I’ll watch with pride,
Your journey of love, with joy as my guide.
God bless you both, may your hearts stay true,
My dear granddaughter, this poem’s for you.
