3.2. Simple Tactic

The second, simple tactic is to exclude ill dogs from the breeding process. If the harmful genes are recessive, we can observe and exclude only the actually ill dogs with the gene combination aa. This definitely decreases the number of ill dogs in the population. But the dogs with the hidden harmful genes (aA) are not detected. They will result in appearing ill dogs in future generations.l

Let’s compare the first two tactics. The portion of ill dogs is shown in the picture below. The total number of dogs is shown with a blue line. The number of dogs affected by the illness is shown with a bright red line. After excluding visible ill dogs from breeding, the number of ill dogs in the population decreased. This is shown in the same picture below. The total number of dogs in this filtered simulation run is shown with a green line, The corresponding number of ill dogs is shown with a dark red line,
