An old letter

Ah, my dear, my captain,
You never loved me.
And you forgot about the pink bow,
And all the things you said.
And I remember the embroidered uniform,
Your gentle, passionate hands.
The gray-haired commander melted from your caresses,
He was doomed to love's torment.
They wrote to me that on the Don,
Your company was ambushed.
Life was on the line,
You showed bravado there as well.
The sabers are drawn, there are no shots,
The cavalry charge has arrived.
The machine gun gave its final answer,
The grass took in the heroes.
Without honor, the slaves killed their masters,
Blue blood was spilled.
But the sky did not fall,
A new life began.
You miraculously survived the terrible battle,
I accidentally found out about it.
You forgot about my passion and love,
That's what I told you about.
Oh, my dear captain,
You never loved me.
And you forgot about the pink bow,
And everything you said back then.
