The Little Dragon Who Knew How to Be a Friend
by Daniel Ryberg (adapted for children)
Once upon a time, in the big, big sky, lived a little dragon named Gravitasik.
He had shiny wings, a long tail, big green eyes — and a very kind heart.
Gravitasik loved to play with his dragon brothers in the stars.
They played tag and hide-and-seek in the clouds and stardust.
But sometimes, he liked to fly alone and watch the stars being born.
His mom and dad were very busy — they were building planets and suns!
Gravitasik dreamed of building stars too, when he grew up.
One day, while flying alone, he saw something small and shiny.
He came closer… it was a little space capsule!
Inside was a tiny girl with beautiful hair and a sad face.
— Hello... who are you? — Gravitasik whispered.
The girl covered her ears — his voice was too loud!
So he flew back a bit and tried again, very gently:
— Who are you?
The girl opened her eyes and said softly:
— My name is Strawberry. I’m lost... I want to go home...
Gravitasik’s heart felt warm and full. He smiled.
— Don’t worry. I will help you! I know someone who can help us —
my grandma! She knows everything!
He carefully picked up the capsule and flew to a soft cloud,
where Grandma Dragon sat knitting with shiny star threads.
She smiled at them kindly.
— Grandma, this is Strawberry. She’s lost. Can you help?
Grandma looked into the girl’s eyes and nodded.
— Of course. But we need a little magic... and a little love.
Then stars, the Moon and the Sun came close and sang a sweet song.
The capsule glowed bright like a tiny sun — and slowly flew away,
back to Strawberry’s home.
— Thank you, Gravitasik! — she called.
Gravitasik waved his wing and smiled wide.
From that day on, he knew:
Being a friend is the best magic of all.
The End.
