Cruifixtion and Ressurection

Last Sunday, a beautiful lady from Brazil bought one of my paintings. She told me it looked French, and I replied that I’ve been deeply influenced by French culture. It’s true—since my youth, I’ve loved the Impressionists: Monet, Manet, Cezanne, Renoir, Degas, Pissarro, and many others.
Even painters from other countries, when they came to Paris, became truly great—the city gave them both exile and existence in the world.Paris is a holiday that stays with you forever.
But I’ve lived in New York for almost 33 years, and it’s here that I became a poet, a painter, and a writer. You can hate New York for many reasons—but you cannot not love it.
As one of my friends who used to sell her jewelry on the street once said:"New York is always crucifixion and always resurrection."
And how can you not love resurrection?
