Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has announced a review into the state pension age.

The government is required to carry out a review every six years.

The last review was in 2023, meaning the government is going to carry out this exercise earlier than planned.

Ms Kendall says she has also commissioned an independent analytical report from Doctor Suzy Morrissey of the Pensions Policy Institute.

Alongside the review, Ms Kendall will also revive the Pension Commission to look at why future pensions are set to be poorer than pensioners today.
