The final seconds of the passing year,
A hollow laugh from those who cheer,
Champagne flows on tables grand,
Ignoring shadows, close at hand.

With eyes averted, cold and stark,
They turn from those left in the dark.
No hope remains for our blameless souls,
Just chilling dread beyond control.

We cast aside, no place to belong,
Our welfare is forgotten song,
While grasping hands amass dishonest gain,
Achieved by deception, and another's pain.

No conscience pricks, no price too steep,
Secrets buried, ruthless vows they keep,
Stepping over lives, building a grim reality,
To secure their perfect destiny.

A gilded cage amid a dire plight,
They banish truth from their own minds,
Erasing faces, blurring signs,
Lost in their selfish, cruel designs.

We don't belong to this Brave New World.
But we believe that Destiny will have its last word.
