Guide to Cryptids. Cryptozoology Industry

By definition, an industry is a system of profit-seeking (money-making) entities (organizations). Which means that every one of them (even allegedly non-profits) has one fundamental objective: to make money for its principals. And (inevitably) generate fame and recognition for them.

Cryptozoology industry is no exception… actually, in a way it is – because of its hypocrisy. It declares that its objective is “search for the truth, find the truth and disseminate the truth” about cryptids while in reality it is not the case.

It is not the case because in our highly imperfect (Christians would call it highly sinful) world truth does not sell well – to put it mildly. What does? Sex, sensation, scandal and scare sell well – very well, actually.

It is difficult to implant sex into cryptozoology (although some do try); generating scare these days (given what’s going on in real world and is seen on the news daily) is a serious challenge (though some still try); ditto for scandal… which leaves sensation. Sensational myths, to be more precise.

Hence, in a nutshell, cryptozoology industry is a system of serial mass production of sensational myths about cryptids. It does not care a rat’s ass (pardon my French) about the truth. Anything goes – as long as it creates sensation and makes money for the principals of enterprises in cryptozoology myths.

With very few exceptions, all cryptozoology books, magazines, Web sites, social media groups and pages, videos, images, YouTube channels, podcasts, Telegram channels, etc. are but myth-making (and money-making) enterprises.

This book is not. This book is not a part of a cryptozoology industry. As I have already said earlier, I have no intention to make money (or generate fame) from this book. I even consent to this project losing money.

Why? Because I am getting both money and fame by writing and publishing fiction and non-fiction books on very different topics (World War II primarily). I am not interested in cryptids or cryptozoology per se – so I have no desire to be recognized as the #1 expert on both in the world (although I probably will be).

For me this book is – first and foremost – the “AI Illustrator” project (I found cryptids to be the best subject for such project by far). Plus, it would be nice to do something I wanted to do when I was five… and get some emotional self-help.
