Do we live forever?

Yes, consciousness is immortal. In this sense, a person will never die. At least, the one who values and respects consciousness.
And creatures that do not have consciousness or have only the beginnings of it - they do not show any interest in such things as eternity, although they are all endowed with the instinct of self-preservation and survival, like all animals and know how to value good relationships, and even experience love and friendship.

But the problem is that stupidity and ignorance are endless and will create a lot of problems in this world for a long time before consciousness and reason become its masters and curb blind passions and emotions. And then a system will be built that can be called paradise - a world in which there will be no place for incompetence and all the destructive things that accompany it.

That's why death is so important and dear today in our world where autocrats and dictators and other bad boys outperformed good states and unions. Without it our world will not be able to get rid of the rulers who dream of ruling people forever, relying on their ignorance and fears.

And it is not for nothing that all dictators and kings in our long stretched  history have been so busy with searching the elixir of immortality.

They simply don't understand that immortality you can find through consciousness only - not through the limitless power and harsh suppression other people and world and their will.
