Глеб Николаевич Планировал разработать некую общую теорию оптимального раскроя крупного параллелепипеда на более мелкие элементы. В качестве целевой функции принимал минимум типов блоков, массы которых максимально приближались к грузоподъемности плавучего крана. Для отдельных габаритов секции ему удавалось число типов блоков снизить до четырех. Но при этом их массы в лучшем случае оказывались в пропорции 1:0.9:0.7:0.6. Такой результат его не устраивал и он предложил автору подумать над дальнейшим улучшением решений.
Автору задача поддалась лишь после десятка лет раздумий. В приведенной таблице крестиком отмечены варианты магических кладок. Номера магических кладок и их оптимальные реальные структуры приведены в Приложении 2.
Вообще-то практически всегда можно найти решения, при котором число типов блоков равно двум, даже при наперед заданной массе наиболее крупного из них. С этой целью автором в девяностых годах 20-го столетия была отлажена довольно мощная программа "Кладка 906".
