5. The Seven Initiations

The Seven Initiations correspond to the seven Rays,
and Initiation is a level of consciousness.
The human Spirit passes through it
and enters into Higher Worlds.
And on the path of spiritual Evolution
temptations and trials await him.
He must pass his examinations
in order to proceed to the next Initiation.
The Path of Evolution is a road of renunciations —
for how else could one accept the new?
To receive Divine Knowledge and Power,
the old must be cast away;
otherwise a selfish person
may turn into a demonic Black Magician.
Spirit must prove that never
will he use his abilities and Knowledge for selfish ends;
only then will he receive them
and direct them toward the Light.
Here selfishness dies, and the Personality becomes
a servant of the human Soul and Spirit.
Aspirant to the Light, he becomes a Disciple.
Serving the Ideal selflessly,
he follows fanatically the Path
of Divine Love and the Knowledge of Light.
By freeing himself from attachments to the world
of material physical existence,
he attains boundless freedom,
like a beggar without a home or coin.
For the wealthy it is harder to be free —
they value too much;
yet when life becomes unbearable,
they too may cast everything aside and flee.
It is harder still to be free and wealthy,
dependent on neither riches nor earthly ties.
But if you choose to dedicate to God
your life and all you possess,
then the Path will become joyful and sweet.
Yet you must learn to love difficulties,
for through them Initiation is granted.
The first gift is liberation from fetters
and the Knowledge of Divine Love.
And the Seventh Ray of Spirit-Matter
influences this Initiation of the Soul.
When matter rises upon the shoulders of Spirit
and the Great Spirit awakens,
a great struggle begins here
for the rule of Soul and Spirit,
while the Personality becomes a servant
and an instrument of God.
The human Spirit realizes
that he is a cell of God,
and the body is a garment for the Soul
and the Sacred Temple of the Spirit.
And the chief event occurs here:
he enters God’s Kingdom,
free at last from the grip
of physical matter.
Across many lifetimes he journeys,
passing from incarnation to incarnation,
until he passes the next examination
on the further road of renunciation.
He must understand his Path
and subject emotion to reason,
never allowing himself
to be aggressive or irritated.
When he ceases to blame, criticize, or condemn
any human expression;
when he understands that evil does not exist —
there is only imperfection;
when he reaches synthesis and the need for unity;
when he loves the people, every nation, and brotherhood —
then he receives the Second Initiation
and becomes enlightened and holy.
The Sixth Ray governs it —
the Ray of Devotion and Idealism.
And the prepared Disciple learns
to serve the Idea of God with devotion.
This Initiation is the Baptism of the Soul.
When he is ready soon to pass into the Third Initiation,
having attained the wondrous nirvana,
and having worked out all karma,
he is ready to leave Earth and depart
into distant Worlds
of Divine Love and Bliss.
Yet there he must continue to develop
his mind to holy perfection.
But he may choose to remain on the planet
and take the Path of Service to Earth,
having attained the Light, turning toward those who follow him.
This is the Path of Christ,
the Lord of Compassion, who offers himself in sacrifice.
Thus the Holy Teacher gains access
to the Temple of Divine Knowledge.
Illumination and revelation arise;
the Soul shines with enlightenment.
To the Teacher become accessible
all the Knowledge of the Akasha and of Earth.
And now another renunciation must be passed
on the Higher Path of Evolution
to reach the next Initiation.
He must subject his thoughts to the Soul,
to the Energy of Divine Love,
and turn his brain into a servant
and perfect instrument.
Freed from earthly desires,
he receives unearthly bliss;
and by controlling all thoughts
he approaches Divine Wisdom.
The Fifth Ray governs him here.
Having completed the Third Initiation
and passed the Path of the Teacher,
he learns to work with Will —
a Spiritual Warrior, this is his way.
Love no longer rules him;
he himself wields it
in the struggle for Light and Goodness,
as the Sword of Love and Divinity.
He conducts the Will of God,
purifying all upon his Path
from selfishness and the fetters of the Soul,
destroying everything that hinders the Spirit
from returning to the Father’s Home.
And here the Crucifixion of the Soul
must be undergone without fail —
renouncing his own will
to become forever the Will of God.
Now he dissolves in God
and becomes a part of Him.
He becomes a God-Man,
a Cosmic Christ.
The Fourth Ray governs him —
Harmony through Conflict.
And he comes to know Harmony
of Wisdom, Will, and Love.
This is the last of the human Initiations.
He receives Revelation
from the Highest Source of the Gods.
He brings enlightenment to humanity —
salvation from catastrophe.
Few will see him;
a hermit is his lot;
yet he rules the world invisibly
and embodies thought-forms into life.
The Third Ray of Active Intelligence
grants him all the Knowledge of the Worlds.
He comes to know the Laws of the Universe
and is endowed with the Wisdom of the Gods.
He next proceeds to the Sixth Initiation,
called Decision.
Seven Paths are opened before him,
and he must choose one —
one decision among the Seven Divine Paths
when at last he leaves the planet
and his “children.”
Then he resurrects and ascends
into other Higher Worlds.
He knows the Eternity of Spirit;
bodies are no longer needed to him.
He becomes a Teacher of Wisdom
like the Teachers of Shamballa,
leading humanity
to other Divine Worlds.
And the Second Ray governs him —
Divine Love and Wisdom.
Having made his Decision,
he resurrects, as Christ once resurrected.
Fulfilling his mission
upon his righteous Earth,
he manifests the Will of God,
and God’s Kingdom is built in full.
The First Ray — the Ray of Divine Will —
now governs him forever.
He ascends into Higher Worlds,
clearing the road for the initiates,
and continues creating there
according to the Plan
and the Will of God.
Beyond this there are other Initiations —
Renunciation and Transition —
but these are not yet accessible to you;
they are accessible only to the Gods,
to those who enter the Seventh Kingdom,
the Heavenly Realm.
