FRONTLINE ACCOUNTING: WOUNDED = REVENUE STREAM
The Russian-Ukrainian front, a dugout HQ. The commander and his sergeant are talking.
Sergeant:
— Comrade major! We’ve taken losses — seven wounded are screaming in no man’s land. Should we evacuate them?
Commander (without raising his eyes from the ledger):
— Why? Leave them ‘in reserve.’ We’ll go on collecting rations for them. The main thing is that the headcount balances.
