PRISON HUMANISM A LA RUSSE
A typical Russian prison cell. A severely emaciated, sickly prisoner sits inside. Behind him stands Russia’s Justice Minister Konstantin Chuychenko, holding the scales of Themis.
Chuychenko:
— In Russia, we have no death penalty. Our prisoners die in jail of their own accord — from shame and pangs of conscience. We are launching a new state program to humanely encourage voluntary departure:
— IV drips of repentance,
— The “Awakening of Conscience” diet (standard prison ration #1),
— “Patriotic Upbringing” aromatherapy (open toilet buckets in solitary confinement).
Russian justice is the most humane in the world!
