Замечательный Виктор Николаевич

И если вас ударили по морде –
сие не самый страшный в жизни день.
Быть может вы вот в этом самом роде
грех искупили – мордою об пень.

И если дважды врезали по морде,
обидно это, даже спору нет,
возможно, нападенье чем-то вроде.
Я заявляю это, как поэт.

И знаю, вы того не заслужили,
печальное стечение минут –
то пьяного вас гопники избили.
Поэты всё отчётливо поймут.

Да, грустно это – завершенье темы.
Случается такое иногда.
Но ведь читаете сейчас поэмы?
Остались живы – так и не беда.

And if you were hit in the face—that's not the worst day in your life.
Perhaps you atoned for your sin in this very way—face-first on a stump.

And if you were hit in the face twice,
it's a shame, no doubt about it,
perhaps it was some kind of assault.
I say this as a poet.

And I know you didn't deserve it,
a sad coincidence—that some thugs beat you up while you were drunk.
Poets will understand everything clearly.

Yes, it's sad—the end of the topic. This happens sometimes.
But you read poems now, right?
Surviving is no big deal.
