Song I have this right!
I wrote a notice for a rally, my intention to be clear,
The time, the place, the purpose, all the things that should endear.
I hoped to meet the people, for a dialogue and more,
But the authorities decided to just bar the door.
(Chorus)
The right to speak is not a favor, not a grant from up above!
It's an article, a principle, the Constitution that we love!
I'm not asking, I'm demanding, I have the right to stand my ground,
And tell the people of my land what hurts, what's lost, what must be found!
The right to speak is not a favor, it's the cornerstone, the key,
To a normal life, a functioning and truly just society!
When they silence us with orders, it's a cruel and heavy blow,
To the very heart of Russia, and the rights we've come to know!
(Verse 2)
Their answer was a piece of paper, a bureaucratic, dry decree:
"Not allowed, for your security, as ordered… let it be."
But where is Article Thirty-One, the promise it imparts?
Where is my peaceful mandate, where's the voice within our hearts?
(Verse 3)
They talk of "order," talk of "threat," the words are sharp and cold.
But where's the threat in what I hold? A story to be told?
I bring no fire, no gunpowder, no weapon, and no fear,
I only bring a question that the people need to hear!
(Bridge)
Why do tariffs rise and rise, a never-ending wave?
Who will answer for the silence? Who will be the brave?
I'm no rebel, I'm a citizen, a part of this great land,
With a right that's on the paper, but is taken from my hand!
(Verse 4)
Yes, I agree, these are hard times, a truth we can't ignore,
But a time of war should not be used to make the truth a door we close.
We have been silent for so long, we've silent been 'til doom,
And all around is hypocrisy, as we head towards the gloom.
(Outro)
I have this right!
Article Thirty-One of the Constitution!
A rally is the chance to let the people know the truth!
But in our municipality, they stole it from me!
To the head, Mr. Berchuk, I say this clear and slow:
You have trampled on my rights, and that is all you need to know!
