one family

Nature doesn’t care about movies; it sees them as something artificial. The weather proved that at the closing of the Moscow Cinema Festival. The temperature was 33°F with high winds and bursts of rain, instead of the usual 70°F and sunshine typical for the end of April.
In response, the filmmakers showed they didn’t care about the weather either. The actresses had to be present on the red carpet, come what may. And so it happened. Walking down the carpet, they adhered to Hollywood traditions: bare shoulders, wearing light, flowing fabrics that looked like a colorful, translucent mist. They smiled as if the temperature were warm milk, their hair floating as though they had caught a gentle breeze from the midsummer Pacific Ocean.
But as soon as the cameras lost their gaze, they rushed to drop their smiles and throw on fur coats, cursing the weather. Yet, they fought against nature, like children trying to prove their point to their parents. This time, they did it. But most of the time, nature—like parents—is indeed right. It is better to listen to nature, to truly understand its wisdom. And, after all, we are one family.
