An unusual surname and student humour of the 1970s

We had a guy in our university group whose surname was Morron. And why are you smiling? It is a perfectly normal Spanish surname. It is also found on the island of Sardinia and in several Latin American countries.

However, we were not living and studying in a Spanish-speaking country. And so, despite everything mentioned above, the spelling and pronunciation of this surname caused barely concealed, cynical amusement among most of the students in our group. Therefore, it should hardly be surprising that before long the poor fellow acquired a permanent friendly nickname... Drick.
