При этом потоки питающих озеро родников и подземных стоков, образующих живую систему, засоряются, а на смену здоровым проточным водам приходят стоячие воды, что приводит к высыханию и гибели озера. Образующийся торфяник можно сравнить с опухолью, когда еще живое озеро отравляется продуктами собственного гниения.
