Grandkids

I was languishing, bored out of my mind,
Then my grandkids came barging in—what a find!
Now there’s no escape, I’m cornered and done,
Every minute’s a battle, every second’s a run.
The youngest’s got a toy gun in his hand,
Squirting water at me across the land.
The middle one’s tossing his little “bombs” around,
Making chaos and noise, turning calm into sound.
The eldest beat me at cards—no chance to win,
I’m exhausted and weary, I just want to give in.
So I fled to the dacha, to find some peace,
Where the quiet is real and the moments increase.
Now I’m fishing and breathing, at last I can rest,
Eating raspberries, sipping wine with zest.
Watching movies on TV, letting time roll by—
This is heaven right here, under open sky.
