To the Hague and my Gerard

To be happy right here and right now,

Though a burden of cares may surround us,

To know that the dawn will allow

A calm shift from the week to the quiet with no fuss.

The chirping of birds and the breath of the sea—

A rainbow, the sky, and the planes soaring higher,

With every heart’s beat in attuned harmony,

And the song of beloved star-gazing spire.
