Harvest of Unspoken Words
I never learned to wrap my feelings in tenderness,
Never dared to light my words with something bright.
I was afraid to fall in love with women,
God forbid I should become a poet overnight.
And my old army boots were dear to me,
More than those polished, fashionable shoes.
That simple cotton shirt could warm my heart,
Building up the image of a man who never loses.
Verse 2
I was ashamed of tears, even in the hardest hour.
I buried friends, holding back every cry.
When loved ones left, I only bowed my head,
Crossed my hands to the earth… and stayed silent inside.
I knew exactly what to say that mournful day.
My chest was torn by pain, like furrows in the land.
But I never let my sorrow have its way —
I fell in love with grief, with the soul it left behind.
Chorus
Years went by, and living water flowed away…
I was living someone else's life, so carelessly.
I wish I'd sown my soul with anything at all,
Instead, I let the winds run free across my fields…
I wish I'd sown it with something, anything at all,
And watered it with every tear I never cried…
I wish I'd grown it with the words I never spoke,
And gathered a harvest of feelings never truly lived…
Verse 3
Day follows day, and year follows year…
Only dreams sometimes remain to comfort me.
Oh, if I could burn those old army boots away —
But sadly, I don't need a newer pair anymore…
I wish I'd sown it with something, anything at all,
And watered it with every tear I never cried…
I wish I'd grown it with the words I never spoke,
Just something… a harvest of the feelings left inside
