***

Like no one else, I put my faith in you,
I held my breath and watched your fate unfold.
It seemed so near — the hour when, the whole world through,
You'd be the one to open eras new and bold.

In ancient pages, prophecies of grey,
Your coming was foretold — a titan, wise and vast.
You were to save the world from ruin's sway,
To shatter every chain and break their lying past.

But now I turn the sacred scripts again,
And doubt that they were speaking of your name.
The certain path has swayed, burned are the bridges plain,
And you'll surrender, without fight, to fate's cruel flame.

A great sharp mind has stepped onto their door,
While you kept walking blindly in their track.
The seer's thought is veiled in darkness evermore,
You play their game, a puppet, never looking back.
