The passing spring
And so... I take the first step.
The melody unfolds.
With but a gentle touch upon a key,
A single string is set free —
And something reaches out to something else.
A bond is born.
Harmony awakens.
And slowly, almost beyond our knowing,
The hidden currents intertwine —
The fierce, forgotten passions
Long buried in the silence of time.
Verse 2
And now the month of May is gone.
The days of laughter drift behind me.
The noonday sun has scorched the month away —
The first of forty-seven,
Yet strangely,
Its fading light has turned toward me.
O restless time...
I do not know whether to rejoice
Or grieve,
For day by day
I feel it ever more clearly:
The currents of time
Are flowing backward.
They play with me,
And leave me only
What has already passed —
A memory,
Weightless and pale,
Like a handful of ashes
Held within an open hand.
Chorus
With a steadfast hand
I turn away the light of sorrow.
With a tender hand
I draw the veil of darkness down.
And those warm, wet lips
Whispered to me,
The words
Of a Spring already passing.
The words
Of the passing Spring.
Verse 3
And I believe my experience has no shore,
Its waters mingling with the silver of my years.
Remembering all that,
In careless youth,
I once discovered with you —
My angel...
Today I carry
Strength and grace,
Wisdom born of time,
And the weight of responsibility.
And yet...
Returning to the flesh,
Returning to consciousness,
I find myself once again
Drawn into
The fevered game of youth.
Not regretting.
Not anticipating.
Not tormented
By eternity's remorse.
Only now and then
The journey pauses...
And in that silence
I accept,
Without resistance,
The quiet peace
Of what must come —
The peace
Of the inevitable.
FINAL REPRISE
With a steadfast hand
I turn away the light of sorrow.
With a tender hand
I draw the veil of darkness down.
And those warm, wet lips
Whispered to me,
The words
Of a Spring already passing.
The words
Of the passing Spring.
