The vicious circle

Being alone — it's reality.
Living for yourself — fatality.
To withdraw into yourself is easy to do,
But to escape yourself — almost impossible, too.
You can't be good to everyone, that's a fact.
Our whole life's path — a birth-born sin, in fact.

You can't become famous through good deeds alone,
The vicious circle closes, you're on your own.
All that's left is to withdraw into yourself again,
But the wail of sirens won't let you sleep, my friend.
And loneliness — a reward for success,
And punishment for sins of sweet excess.

Loneliness among the shop windows is stronger still,
Among the crowd where a million shadows spill.
They pass right through you, leaving their trace,
But they don't care about you, in that place.
They're proud of the greatness of their wins,
But Pride — it's just another sin.

Being alone — it's reality.
Living for yourself — fatality.
To withdraw into yourself is easy to do,
But to escape yourself — almost impossible, too.
You can't be good to everyone, that's a fact.
Our whole life's path — a birth-born sin, in fact.
