90!!! Steve Reich - 90!!!

90!!! / STEVE REICH - 90!!!
–––––––––––––––––––In English see below: ––––––––––––––––––––

Today, October 3rd, marks the 90th birthday of Steve Reich—my friend, colleague, and a brilliant composer who has imbued (and continues to imbue) MUSIC with boundless possibilities and self-replicating meanings for ages to come. Listen to Steve Reich’s music and send him your greetings at info@ascap.com (website: ascap.com).
Thirty-five years ago, Steve wrote me a landmark letter expressing his desire to take an active part in my IMPROFEST project (just as dozens of the world’s most talented composers and musicians did back then)... But, alas, our cultural authorities failed to support that project and continue to ignore both it and my latest endeavors (likely due to their incompetence and an unwillingness to engage with anything they do not understand). Yet today, despite the obstacles raised by shortsighted officials and certain colleagues, we will continue to create the NEW and propel humanity forward under Pushkin’s immortal motto: "Long live the sun, and may darkness vanish!"
To the great global composer Steve Reich—many happy years! Wishing you health, inspiration, and new music!

Uri Kassyanik and associates.
