Clarity Mudra Gate 57
Touch the tip of your index finger to the tip of your thumb on each hand.
Bring your hands together so that the corresponding fingertips of both hands meet.
Leave a small hollow space between your palms, like a little tent.
Raise your joined hands to your face.
Gently touch the area between your eyebrows—the “third eye”—with your joined middle fingers.
Position the triangular opening in front of your nose and mouth so that you can breathe into the space between your palms.
Direct your breath into this “triangle,” breathing gently into your belly.
Keep your shoulders relaxed and your wrists naturally aligned with your forearms.
Let your fingertips touch lightly.
Close your eyes gently and take a few calm breaths, noticing the warmth of your breath and the contact between your hands.
When to use:
- When fear of the future draws your attention into speculation.
- When you want to distinguish a specific signal among many impressions.
- Before a decision that calls for gathering yourself and sensing the next step.
- When checking and trying to anticipate everything begin to drain the present.
How it helps:
- Gives your attention a simple anchor: the touch of your fingertips, your breath, and the space between your palms.
- Helps you pause, notice your state, and discern what needs attention now.
- Creates a pause in which you can sense how much further exploration is useful and whether you are ready to act.
Signs of calibration:
- Your breathing may become steadier and your shoulders more relaxed.
- You may feel warmth between your palms.
- Your attention gathers around a specific impression or question.
- You may become able to name the next manageable step, or sense that you have done enough for now and it is time to rest.
Notice your own response: these signs may appear differently for each person.
What happens to the energy:
In our contemplative interpretation, attention scattered across possible future scenarios gathers into an awareness of the present.
Less energy is spent on internal checking.
What is already discernible becomes accessible: a signal, a sense of proportion, the next action. The resources you preserve remain available for living.
The mudra’s formula:
“I gather my attention in the present, discern the next step, and preserve my strength for the journey.”
