Beauty Mudra Gate 1 Self-Expression
Stand firmly with your feet about hip-width apart. Slightly bend your knees, allowing your weight to settle evenly through your feet.
Bend your right elbow and raise your open palm to face level.
Your fingers point upwards, and your shoulder stays relaxed.
Place your left palm across your abdomen, with your little finger at navel level.
Gently bow your head, keeping your neck relaxed.
Breathe calmly. You may imagine a bridge between the Sun and the centre of your raised palm.
Trace the path of light with your attention: through your palm, along your arm, into your abdomen,
then down through your legs and feet into the Earth.
You can visualise this with your eyes closed.
Remain in this position for as long as your body feels comfortable, then gently lower your arm.
When to use:
- When you wish to reconnect with your own inner tone.
- To give a creative vision time to mature.
- To feel supported as you prepare to express yourself.
- When you have taken in many impressions and need space for them to come together as an image, a word or a movement of your own.
How it helps:
As an attention practice, this mudra brings receptivity and stability together.
The raised palm expresses openness to inspiration, the palm on your abdomen brings your attention back to your inner experience,
and your feet remind you of the Earth’s support.
Creativity finds support in the body: I am present, I receive, and I allow my response to take shape.
Signs of calibration:
Notice whether your breathing becomes easier, whether you feel supported beneath your feet, and whether your abdomen and shoulders remain soft.
You may notice warmth beneath your palm, a quiet sense of centredness, or an interest in taking one simple next step.
Each person responds differently. Let comfort in the posture and a clear sense of presence guide you.
What happens to the energy:
In the imagery of this practice, inspiration travels from light into embodiment.
It is received through the open palm, gathers within the abdomen, and becomes grounded through connection with the Earth.
Here, our guiding themes meet: Samekh — support for maturation; the assimilation of experience — making what we receive our own; creativity — the birth of our unique expression.
“I receive an impression, allow it to mature, and express what comes alive within me.”
Mudra formula:
“I open to the Light. I feel supported. I allow Beauty to express itself through me.”
