Intriguing story! Now I have to think what’s going to happen next. Will Brain notice Ann? How he will react? Will they start dating? And so on and so forth :)))

Some of the best pieces:
"Hare Krishna bunch who are a perennial fixture"
"relentlessly carnivore student body"
"mumbling the self-depreciating mantra"
"stifling heat will take an edge off her hunger" - nice point, it actually does work that way :)
"waify-looking undergrads"
"short shorts and flip-flops, the unofficial year-round campus uniform"
"To escape abuse and humiliation Ann rushed into a marriage which turned out to be no less abusive or humiliating"
"for whom women were a disposable commodity"
"marrying a shiksa"
"his professional ethic code" - Americans tend to follow the rules too much.
It was scary to write you a review, seeing your state-of-the-art English o0 I did find one misspelled word - "go _though_ financial counseling". Ok, you are a human being after all :) Though a human being with a m a z i n g English (!) Did you graduate with an English major :)?

I should say that your English is perfect and your style is superb. My story is still in the makling. It's an attempt to transform personal experiences and memories into something less personal. The characters and events are real, but I decided to "stir" everything up a bit in order to get away from the memoir tradition.

Dina, I see what you mean. I have the same problem and use the same way to avoid "documentalizm'. Therefore I've divided my stories into two books so far. This's the easiest way, I guess.

It's OK as long as there is no direct dependency (e.g., grades).
Besides, are you sure there will be anything romantic between these two?

Summer sessions are short. Once she isn't a student in his class - they can hook up, engage in a relationship, start a rock-band, open a tantra class, etc.

They can do the same while being in the professor-student status, though caution and secrecy would be crucial to the professor's survival - a 21-year old student would suffer less reprimand than the person in the professor's position.

If I were a professor, I would be careful enough not to loose my job. On the other side, if I were a student, I would enjoy any attention to my personality from the teacher. Strange, isn't it?

I doubt that you'd enjoy ANY attention. Not any attention is welcome.

As for the any student-teacher relationship, the rules are rather straightforward at the undergrad/grad level. You are safe as long as you are not the student's teacher (i.e., do not assign grades). It's far too dangerous when students are under age (high school).
