Дневник Сумасшедшего 1185
3:40pm.
Came home later than usual. Spent the morning with A. Had no genuine desire to work on my business and wanted to get rest. There was a video which I noticed accidentally and which made me think after I watched it. It’s called: “The Rise of Fake Gurus: The Dark Truth Behind Making Millions from Online Courses.” The guy who made the video (James Jani) tries to look critically at the self-help industry, but it pretty much sounds the same as self-help. This is probably the most controversial thing about self-help: when you try to attack it, you do it a favor. For the most part, this guy tried to debunk those who sell their self-help courses which have no other value than making you feel as if you’re accomplishing something just by taking more courses, reading more self-help books and not taking any “actions”. I wonder how this video came to my recommendations, since the guy has only 3.5 thousand subs, and what he’s talking about isn’t what I wanna hear. I mean, it makes me suspicious, whereas I have to be absolutely certain about what I’m doing. Yeah, I’m trying to put myself into a certain filter bubble where all I wanna see and hear must lead me towards $10, 000 of income per year. This is the goal. Do I sell dreams to somebody? Is it impossible to learn how to think in a foreign language? Is it impossible to use that language to solve various life-problems? Well, if it works, I’ll reach the goal sooner or later and then publish this notebook. If it doesn’t work, I’ll publish this notebook still and turn into someone like this guy whom I’ve just watched. Anyhow, I’m conducting an experiment and its results are valuable in either way. It’ll be funny if I don’t reach the goal and after a year of hard work there still will be no income whatsoever, but then, after publishing this notebook, I’ll get what I want simply because it’s gonna turn into a bestseller.
5:50pm.
Wrote an article about dreams for my English course. Now, I’m gonna read about advertising. Here is a definition from wiki: “a. is a marketing communication that employs an openly sponsored, non-personal message to promote or sell a product, service or idea.”
6:30pm.
Found an interesting character at the introduction to the article about advertising and decided to read his book. It’s just 160 pages. I’ve already gotten through the first 20. The book is called “Propaganda” and it’s written by Edward L. Bernays in 1928. Here are the titles of the first four chapters:
1. Organizing Chaos
2. The New Propaganda
3. The New Propagandist
4. The Psychology of Public Relations
