The Algorithm of Chaos

'Pull up at the corner,' Vit told the driver. He paid, stepped out over the curb, and crossed the sidewalk to the building wall, adopting the pose of a slacker with all the time in the world, and, like, no idea what to busy oneself with for a while.
The throng along the sidewalk streamed past, dense and inexhaustible. Endless change of duds and faces swam in pacing waves, approaching to walk by and vanish…
Coming up in twos, threes, and alone… Nearer and nearer, and then they were gone…
On the way, they rubbed shoulders with other walkers, though mostly dodging each other. They gossiped, quarreled, laughed, cried, gave orders on their phones…
The usual, everyday crowd of random passersby moved full-flowing in both directions at once. Each and every one of them wearing their indispensable mask of personal facial expression they choose to put on in public.
The habitually comfortable masks belonging just right, when you're a part in the endless stream that rolls past Vit, who leans against the wall behind him.

And neither he nor the wall presents any obstacle for their progress in any way. Both behave, quiet and modestly, outside the two-way flow.
Because he's a benevolent sociopath, as, hopefully, you've been informed already, and if not, just keep in mind from now on.
And it doesn't matter who of us missed the boat: either I on letting you know, or you by turning a deaf ear to, accidentally.
Learning is never too late. Yeah.

So, anyway, he stood there, waiting for her to appear, like a character in an antique, naive novel or in an half-forgotten, black-and-white movie, who also happens to be standing there, waiting for a sail to show up on a distant yet radiant horizon. Also black-and-white.

It's not what it looks like!
The 2 following paragraphs do not make an epigraph.
Nope. It is the final warning to sissy purists, pedantic SOBs of scent trained specially to tree any lively language, so as to pronounce it offensive:
„Most Honorable Miss/ Lady/ Sir!
Stop handling the book, close it, take another look at the title, try to grasp the meaning, and think again and deeper: do you really need it? Why risking your mental health? Don’t endanger the core of your snug life in a nice world miles away from our everyday reality.”
