Recently Yale psychologists published a study on prejudice in rhesus monkeys. The researchers used time measurements as a predictor of a threat when monkeys were presented with pictures of other monkeys from the same or other groups. The results proved that familiarity was a weaker factor compared to group membership. Male monkeys typically leave a group where they grow up and join other groups for mating. Even though males who recently left the group where they grew up were highly familiar, they were perceived as equally threatening and unfamiliar as any other outsiders. So, morphological similarity and prior familiarity cannot be used as a predictor of attractiveness. As for a dog's ability to "read one's mood", that's preposterous. Dogs read others' body language and may perceive it as threatening or not depending on the most subtle movements. Concerning monkeys it is difficult fo me to speak about because the information in your example about the given experiment isn’t enough. Whether It is possible to judge the relation to a monkey of its relative through the reaction to its image? Often scientists don’t manage themselves to more careful statement of experience or more particular analysis of the received results.
Animals feel energy more sensitive, than human beings. Concerning an example about a barking dog – I was acquainted with this theory in a youth when it was strenuously proved that hypnosis doesn't exist. Here one phenomenon is dexterously substituted for another as they exist practically simultaneously. At my example I was walking with aggressive thoughts and the dog was far and didn't see me absolutely. The importance of emotions control is realized perfectly by trainers of predatory animals.
